I had to admit—when I walked out the theater after a screening of "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" a few days ago, I could not remember the title, except the word "mummy" in it. This film is supposed to be the third installment in the "Mummy" series, despite the fact that there is no mummies in the emperor's tomb, except a Terracotta Army . The pretentious CGI work showing a goofy fight between the Terracotta Army and skeletons cannot save the weak script and thin characters.

Before I get into the plot of this great story, I would be remiss if I didn’t talk a bit about the history that sets the stage. In 1937, the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) invaded and attacked China. They started with Beiping and Tianjin, then reinforced and attacked Shanghai, eventually taking it after a hard fought battle with the Chinese. Over the next few years, fighting continued and horrible losses were suffered on all sides

Some movies are so overtly artistic that it takes away from the overall impact of the film. While "Hero" is a certainly an artistic movie, the creative aspects add to both the film's substance and meaning.

I must admit, this movie was quite a bit different than I expected. The previews made the movie look like an epic war of one man against several large armies. I had the feeling it would share a similar storyline with "The Last Samaurai." Well I was wrong on both accounts. "Hero" is about a warrior who fights for one reason, which isn't revealed until the end of the movie. The battle scenes are nearly all one-on-one battles, placing the focus on individuals, not on entire armies like most war movie

Unleashed(Danny the Dog)

Jet Li plays Danny, a slave who is treated like a dog by his boss.

He has the mind of a child and there is only one thing he can really do, and do extremely well...FIGHT.

His boss Bart keeps Danny on a leash and collar and makes him fight in illegal gladiator style fights to earn huge money for him.

Until one day there is a car crash, Danny escapes and meets a kind elderly blind Piano tuner, who through his music shows Danny a world he never knew existed.

Of course the bad guys come after him and he must take them on to protect him and his new friend.

Of course superb matrial art scenes as always...a very enjoyable movie showing how cruel life can be.
